Could cold plunge work for your business?
Explore demand, operating costs and a possible payback period before you make room for another service.
A paid add-on?
A sauna pairing?
A membership?
Each is a different business case. This calculator models additional paid sessions so you can see the effect of demand and costs clearly.
Use your own assumptions. A quiet month deserves as much attention as a busy one.
Test the business case.
Replace every assumption with your own estimate. Staff time and payment fees are included. Financing, taxes and any unentered expenses are excluded.
Build your scenario
After modeled operating costs, before financing, income tax and unentered expenses.
Monthly gross revenue
Modeled monthly costs
Equipment + setup
Simple payback estimate
Payback assumes steady demand from the start and excludes ramp-up, financing, tax and resale value. Operating break-even does not repay the initial investment.
What if bookings change?
How the calculator works
Bookings = sessions per day × days open. Gross revenue = bookings × session price. Per-session cost = other variable expense + staff minutes ÷ 60 × hourly staff cost + session price × payment fee percentage.
Monthly operating surplus = gross revenue − total per-session costs − monthly fixed costs. Simple payback = equipment and setup investment ÷ positive monthly operating surplus. No payback is shown when surplus is zero or negative.
Ask about a booking.
Not just an interest.
Ask current customers which service they would pay for, at what price, and how often. “I’d try it” and “I’d book it every week” tell you different things.
Paid add-on
An additional purchase alongside an existing visit. Count the extra revenue and extra staff time.
Sauna + plunge
A combined appointment. Plan the guest route and account for any existing sauna revenue it replaces.
Membership option
Count incremental membership revenue, not hypothetical per-session sales for already-included visits.
Prepare the room.
Prepare the team.
A room can fit the equipment and still be awkward to operate. Work through these decisions before placing an order.

A few details worth getting right.
Does a hot-and-cold tub replace a sauna-and-plunge setup?
A tub that heats and cools provides one water temperature at a time. It does not supply simultaneous hot and cold water. An existing sauna paired with a cold plunge is a different arrangement.
Is monthly operating surplus the same as profit?
No. This model subtracts only the expenses you enter. It does not automatically include financing, depreciation, income taxes, existing business overhead or every cost associated with opening a service.
How much maintenance should I budget for?
Ask for a written commercial operating plan matched to the equipment and your usage. Include labor, water care, filters and routine service. Automated equipment still needs oversight.
Why start the equipment example at $5,990?
That is Modouge’s published Commercial Cold Plunge price when this guide was prepared. It is an editable starting assumption, not a complete installed quote. Confirm current pricing and required equipment before committing.
